Short Bio

Ariel Knafo-Noam works at the Department of Psychology, Hebrew University of Jerusalem. Ariel does research in Personality Psychology, Developmental Psychology and Behavioural genetics. He is interested in all potential influences on individual differences in social behavior and values. He has written on the development of altruism, empathy and other aspects of prosociality. He studies the genetic, environmental and combined contributions to prosocial behavior and values, using diverse methodologies, and has demonstrated in his work how genetics and the environment work together in forming an empathic and prosocial disposition. His current project is 'The development of values in childhood.'
